波普先生（金·凱瑞 Jim Carrey 飾）是一個(gè)極富工作熱情的高效率商人，在公司里備受重用，但卻常常因此犧牲了與家人共處的時(shí)光。這個(gè)冬天，當(dāng)他正在全力以赴地爭(zhēng)取一位傷腦筋的合伙人時(shí)，前妻阿曼達(dá)（卡拉·古奇諾 Carla Gugino 飾）也準(zhǔn)備開(kāi)始自己的下一段戀情。 然而這一切隨著一個(gè)快遞箱子的到來(lái)而發(fā)生了意想不到的逆轉(zhuǎn)——波普先生從已故父親那里繼承到了最不尋常的財(cái)產(chǎn)：一只活企鵝。就在他束手無(wú)策的時(shí)候，竟又收到了另外五只活企鵝。企鵝們一度將波普先生的規(guī)律生活與工作弄得一團(tuán)糟，但他的小兒子卻十分喜愛(ài)這些企鵝。然而，在紐約這樣的大都市里，養(yǎng)企鵝雖是趣事，卻絕對(duì)不是易事……
