安迪（尼克·赫爾姆 Nick Helm 飾）對外一向自稱是一名自由音樂人，但實際上，年過三十的他每天都過著無所事事的無聊生活。這樣的日子久了，在未來中看不到一絲希望的安迪心生倦意，他決定自殺，甚至寫好了遺書。就在這個關(guān)鍵時刻，姐姐的一通電話打亂了安迪原定的“計劃”，在電話中，姐姐希望安迪能幫她照顧他年僅12歲的小侄子艾羅爾（埃利奧特·斯佩勒-吉洛特 Elliot Speller-Gillott 飾）。
就這樣，安迪蒼白的生命里突然多出了一個活蹦亂跳古靈精怪的孩子，不僅如此，他還對艾羅爾學校的美麗女教師一見鐘情。完全不懂得如何管教孩子的安迪和人小鬼大的艾羅爾，這樣一對“奇葩”的組合之間會擦出怎樣的火花呢？
